Experience shaped by listening to the whole story.
Meet Juli Nagashima
Juli Nagashima, PMHNP-BC, RNC-OB, C-EFM
Juli is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner whose approach is shaped by two decades of nursing experience, advanced fellowship training in integrative psychiatry, and a deep understanding of the connection between physical and mental health.
Through Bedrock Integrative Psychiatry, Juli provides secure telehealth integrative psychiatric care for patients located throughout California.
More than twenty years of caring
for patients and families
A Foundation in NursingJuli’s approach is shaped by two decades as a registered nurse caring for perinatal mothers and families in high-acuity settings.
Throughout her nursing career, she developed a deeper understanding of the connection between physical and mental health. Medical history, hormonal changes, sleep, nutrition, stress, lifestyle, trauma, and emotional well-being can all influence how a person feels and functions.
Juli pursued advanced psychiatric training to provide care that considers these connections. She earned her post-master’s psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certificate and completed advanced fellowship training in integrative psychiatry.
Today, her nursing experience and psychiatric training form the foundation of her work at Bedrock Integrative Psychiatry.
Understanding what may be
contributing to each patient’s symptoms
Philosophy of Care-
Juli’s approach begins with listening carefully to each patient’s experiences, concerns, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, daily life, and goals.
She considers factors such as:
Medical and psychiatric history
Current symptoms and previous treatment
Sleep quality and energy
Nutrition and eating patterns
Hormonal and metabolic health
Stress and lifestyle demands
Trauma and significant life experiences
Movement and physical activity
Relationships and social environment
Current medications
Personal beliefs, values, and goals
Considering these areas together allows Juli to develop a more complete understanding of what may be affecting a patient’s mental health.
-
Helping patients participate actively in their care
Juli’s treatment approach is integrative, person-centered, collaborative, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed.
Depending on each patient’s needs, psychiatric visits may incorporate:
Cognitive behavioral strategies
Motivational interviewing
Compassion-focused support
Trauma-informed care
Interpersonal and supportive interventions
Education about the brain-body connection
Consideration of medical, hormonal, nutritional, sleep, stress, and lifestyle factors
Thoughtful psychiatric medication management
Faith integration when desired by the patient
Juli works collaboratively with patients so they can understand their options, ask questions, recognize patterns, and make informed decisions about their mental health care.
Medication may be used when clinically appropriate as one part of an individualized treatment plan.
